About The Public Wellness Project: Dr. Luke Alley and Dr. Tony Chan

We help hardworking men who've fallen off with their health get their energy, confidence and consistency back. Our mission is to help men build routines and habits that make a better version of their health and of themselves.

Founder

Luke Alley is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a certified health coach, and the founder of The Public Wellness Project.

Luke works with hardworking men who know what to do for their health and can't make it stick. They go all in, life gets busy, and they fall off. Most of them are hard on themselves about it.

He started this work after watching the men around him struggle to find their footing. The messages they hear conflict, and few of them have people in their corner. Luke grew up with strong male mentors who showed him you can work hard, have hard conversations and hold people accountable while being empathetic and sincere. He does not think men have to choose.

He offers his clients the same thing: a clear plan, a real partnership, and the skills to own their health long after coaching ends. Luke is based in Boston and coaches men around the world.

Why We Coach Men

Better men mean a better society, better communities, and a better world.

“What I've always wanted is really close male relationships and people in your corner rooting for you constantly.”

For Luke those came through sports: teammates who held each other accountable, and coaches and mentors who had hard conversations while still being kind and in his corner.

“A lot of men are really just trying to figure out what works for them.”

Many are grinding on their own, comparing themselves on their phones, with nobody in their corner. There's also a lot of noise about what men are supposed to be.

“Have goals, have priorities, have what you want, and be a good person along the way. That's not a dichotomy.”

That's what we want to be for the men we work with: someone who helps you build the routine, holds you to it, and roots for you the whole way.

How We Work: The Plan, the Partnership, Ownership

Most men we work with don't need more information. They need traction. So you get a plan built around your goals and your real week, a coach in your corner every week holding you to it, and by the end the skills to run it yourself.

You work with real people directly, not a bot. As Doctors of Physical Therapy we know how to build training into a plan safely and around old aches, and as a certified health coach Luke is trained in the methods that help habits last, like motivational interviewing. The Everfit app handles the day-to-day.

What Coaching Is and Is Not

This is health and well-being coaching. It can help you build the routines and support around stress, low mood, sleep, and habits like smoking or vaping, but we don't diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions, and coaching doesn't replace your doctor or therapist. Our training as Doctors of Physical Therapy shapes how we plan movement, but the program is not physical therapy treatment.

From a walker to running, golf and carrying his daughter

“I feel that I keep promises to myself and follow routines more religiously.”

Nick came home unable to walk to the fridge on his own. He went from a walker to running, climbing 20 flights of stairs and box jumps, drove and flew alone again, played in his high school golf tournament, and can now carry his daughter, Lily.
