What Clients Say
“His attention to detail and expertise have been invaluable in helping me achieve my fitness goals.”
Why Exercise Keeps Falling Off Your Calendar
Most busy guys don't need another workout program. They've tried a few. Some have only ever trained with an app, a class or the machines telling them what to do. The pattern is the same: a strong first two weeks, then a late meeting, a trip or a bad night of sleep, and the plan quietly stops. Next Monday, you start over.
That is not a motivation problem. The plan was built for an ideal week, and real weeks are not ideal. Exercise coaching at PWP starts from your actual schedule and energy, and builds a routine that bends instead of breaks.
What Exercise Coaching Includes
Think of it as having an online fitness coach inside Personalized Health Coaching, not a separate service. You get the whole program, with exercise as the main lever.
- A look at how much you move now and what has stopped you before
- A structured strength program that adds weight block over block
- Coaching on the lifts, form checks and confidence with free weights and the barbell
- A minimum version for busy weeks so the habit never fully stops
- Workouts delivered and logged in the Everfit app
- Film a set and get feedback on your form, plus a weekly check-in and a 1-on-1 every month
Why a Doctor of Physical Therapy Plans It
PWP is led by Dr. Luke Alley and Dr. Tony Chan, both Doctors of Physical Therapy, trained in how bodies move, load and adapt. That shapes how your plan is built: how fast to progress, how to work around an old ache, and when to back off before soreness turns into a reason to quit.
This is coaching, not physical therapy treatment. If you have pain, an injury or a medical condition, see your doctor or a physical therapist first. The program can then work alongside that care.
More Than Online Personal Training
Online personal training usually means a trainer sends workouts and checks your form by video. You get that here too: a structured program in Everfit and feedback on your sets. The difference is who plans it and what surrounds it. Your program is written by Doctors of Physical Therapy, and coaching covers the sleep, food and stress habits that decide whether you show up at all.
So if you've been looking for an online personal trainer or a virtual personal trainer, think of PWP as the training plan plus the coaching that keeps it going, with a fitness accountability coach who notices when a week slips.
What a First Block of Exercise Looks Like
If you have not exercised in a while, the first 4-week block is deliberately small. Often that means two short walks and one 20-minute strength session at home each week, at an effort that leaves you feeling you could do more.
Once that holds on a busy week, the next block adds a little: one more session, a longer walk, heavier weights. Over 16 weeks most plans work toward the common guideline of about 150 minutes of moderate activity a week plus two strength days, at whatever pace your life allows. For a self-guided version, see our strength training plan for men.
A Sample Week in the First Block
Here is what an early week often looks like for someone starting from very little. It is an example, not a template: your plan is built around your own schedule.
The point is that every piece is small enough to survive a busy week. When that holds for a few weeks, the next block asks a little more.
- Monday: 20-minute walk at lunch
- Tuesday: 20-minute strength session at home
- Thursday: 20-minute walk after work
- Saturday: something social, like a hike or a class
- Busy-week minimum: one walk and one 10-minute session
Strength, Cardio or Both?
Both, in a mix that suits you, with strength at the center. Strength training protects muscle, joints and metabolism and makes everyday life feel easier, and seeing your numbers go up block over block is one of the best reasons to keep showing up. Walking and other easy cardio support energy, mood and sleep, and they're the easiest habits to keep on a hard week. If you also want to lose weight, that strength-first approach is the core of our online weight loss coaching.
If you love one style of exercise, the plan leans into it. If you hate running, you will not be told to run. Consistency comes from doing something you can tolerate on a bad day, then building on it.
Who Exercise Coaching Is For
It's built for hardworking men who sit most of the day, start and stop training, and want someone to plan it and notice when it slips. Some used to train hard in school or sports and lost the routine. Others have never felt sure what to do in a gym, or have been scared of the barbell. Both are normal starting points, and many men end up lifting one with confidence for the first time.
You don't need a gym, a fitness background or a lot of free time. You need about 20 minutes, a few times a week, to start. Because everything runs online, a virtual fitness coach works around your calendar, not a gym's opening hours.
From never inside a gym to training 3 to 4 days a week
“I'm feeling stronger and more confident, and I don't have the same anxieties around going to the gym. My confidence has increased, I have more energy, and I've noticed it in my recreational activities too, like feeling stronger on my bike.”
Tom O.Tom was living an active lifestyle but had never trained for it or walked into a gym. We planned his first visit in detail. From there he trained three or four times a week, learned barbell squats and free weights, kept adding weight, and started meal-prepping for long workdays.
How PWP Compares to Other Kinds of Help
A personal trainer plans workouts. An app counts them. At PWP, training is planned by a Doctor of Physical Therapy, with coaching on the sleep, food and stress habits that decide whether you actually show up.

Common Questions
Something else on your mind? Email us.
Fitness coach vs personal trainer: what's the difference?
A personal trainer mainly plans and runs workouts. A personal fitness coach looks at the habits around them too. At PWP, Doctors of Physical Therapy plan your exercise, and coaching covers sleep, food and stress, inside a 16-week program.
Do I need a gym?
No. Many plans start with walking and home strength work using your body weight or a few dumbbells. If you have a gym, the plan uses it.
How long are the workouts?
Early on, often 20 minutes. Sessions grow only once the shorter version is holding.
I have an old injury. Can I still do this?
Check with your doctor or physical therapist first. We can then build exercise around their guidance, but coaching does not treat injuries.
I've never trained before. Is this for beginners?
Yes. Many men start having never felt sure what to do in a gym. The first block is deliberately small, and you learn the lifts step by step with form feedback on video. One client planned his very first gym visit with us and went on to learn barbell squats.
